PrEP (Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis)
Indications :
- An antiretroviral medication used to prevent HIV infection in individuals at risk.
- When taken consistently, it can reduce the risk of contracting HIV by more than 90%.
Precautions:
- Regular blood tests for HIV and routine kidney function screenings are highly recommended.
- Does not protect against other sexually transmitted infections (STIs), such as syphilis or gonorrhea.
- Must be taken continuously on a strict schedule to achieve maximum effectiveness.
